This course has one of the more unique atmospheres around the course that we have come across.  It’s settled in a grove of trees next to an outdoor bar and grill which has a lot of other gaming (darts, cornhole, etc) and eating areas spread out through the trees.  It’s a very nice setting in the heart of Texas and you certainly feel the “Texas” coming through as you enter. The course itself is set in a denser part of the trees and as we played at night also had a bit of a horror-movie feel to it as it wasn’t lit quite as well as other courses. While that made some aspects of reading the greens and putting more difficult, it did add a bit to the uniqueness of the course. Add to it that none of the water was working, there was some wear on many of the holes and there were other interesting decoration elements (random gates and other garden-like items) – and one got a sense that you were almost playing an abandoned or post-apocalyptic course.  It would be interesting to see how it looked during the daytime, though, with the big Texas sun shining through. Like many courses in Texas you can also bring drinks onto the course, which is always a bonus.

The gameplay itself was average overall.  Despite the spookier atmosphere for the most part the course was in average condition and putts rolled as you would expect, though there were certainly holes where this wasn’t the case and some funky breaks appeared.  We’re not sure who the manufacturer was but the holes were pretty standard fair for something you’d see on a Harris course or something similar, again with a few exceptions in design. The bricks were mostly in good condition and the combination of hole style, putting surface and bricks meant that there were actually some ace opportunities to be had and not many holes where you’d get more than a 3.  So while the putting itself won’t blow your socks off, the overall vibe of the place, and the accessible price point, make it a place we would play again if we were in the area or lived locally and wanted a night out with some food, drink and putting.
