Route 44 Recreation Center in Rehoboth is probably one of the best-kept secrets in New England's mini golf scene. While the center is home to a go-kart track, batting cages, a game room, and ice cream stand, the 21-hole course is the crown jewel of the facility.

At first glance, the course may seem similar to other courses because a couple of holes use common obstacles like the windmill and castle. However, the design of the holes is extremely creative and engaging to children and adults alike. Overall, the course is extremely well-maintained, with no litter or debris in sight.

The course is difficult, so don't expect many opportunities to make an ace. Because the holes are surrounded by metal rims, you have to hit your shots with precise aim and speed. Otherwise, you can easily three-putt from 5 feet. A majority of holes also have multiple hole placements, which the owner changes regularly. Ordinarily, the par-60 course uses a mix of easy and difficult hole placements. But when the course hosts its annual tournament every September, only the most difficult hole placements are used, resulting in one of the most challenging but fun courses you could ever hope to play.
