After visiting the course for the first time in
2022, this has quickly become our favorite course in all of New Jersey! While
we would love to maintain this course as a secret gem, it is simply too amazing
of a course to keep to ourselves!
The course is definitely a
challenge, although you may be able to sneak a couple of aces. In the few times
we've gone, our winner has come in between 45-47, with the par being an
appropriate 47. There are plenty of unique holes and deceptively challenging
putts. This course is a little bit on the more expensive side, but you are
really paying for the experience you have, and we wouldn't begrudge your group
if you wanted to play this course more than once.
Adults are $15, Seniors are $13, and Children are $11. They also offer weekly,
monthly, and season passes for those who may staying
near the lake during the summer, all of which includes discounts at their snack
shoppe. We are also real suckers for a course with a water view, and few courses can beat the beautiful view of Lake Hopatcong
from all 18 holes.
Many courses incorporate some method of
historical nostalgia into their course, but none does it better or with more
beauty than LHGC. Just some of my personal favorites include the Hopatcong
Steamboat (Hole 2), The Wildcat rollercoaster (Hole 9), and the Lake Hopatcong
Yacht Club (Hole 16). Not only are these structures beautifully incorporated
into the course, but every time we have attended, they always appear to have
been freshly restored the day before. Not only are the greens, obstacles, and
waterways impeccable, but it takes a great dedication
to keep the surrounding areas of your course in peak condition.
