This course just opened in Connecticut and without seeing the signage we could tell this was a Harris course. While we played it when it was only a few months old, we didn’t pick the best of days to be out there. As you can tell from the pictures, things were a bit funky as CT was dealing with smoke from Canadian wildfires. Besides providing its own filter for the pictures between the smoke and heat we know we weren’t at our best putting that day either.
With it being new, the course was naturally in good condition. It features some of the newer style Harris bricks so kicks were a little more consistent (though you still have the chance to get cracked) and this course opted to go with the pins in the cups, which could help or hurt depending on how you play. There were also a few holes with pipes and mostly we saw that they didn’t help a lot or have a consistent drop into the cup. This leaves you with some decisions to make around whether you want to trust that or use some of the alternative routes to the cup. There were also a few breaks around the cups that we thought weren’t as obvious on first glance but could have also been the state of the weather while we were there. It does feel like a course that after a few plays, one could dial in the pace and location of putts to drop a few aces and know where to stay out of any trouble with 3s.
There wasn’t much shade on the course when we played but saw recently that the course was adding some shade tarps similar to what Matterhorn Mini Golf has. This will be a big help as we can see you baking some on the course on a bright summer’s day. There is plenty of parking at the location and they serve some adult beverages if you are interested in adding that to your game. It seems like they have plans to build up some of the empty space around the course as well to make this quite the little destination. Overall we think it is a good addition to minigolf in Connecticut and hope to get out there again under some more favorable weather conditions.
