In Myrtle Beach, Cap'N'Cain is one of six locations, visited by John Margolies, a photographer and author of Miniature Golf, published in the mid 1980's. On pages 60/61 are photos of nine locations with a light house, visited by the author. As of 2022, only two places are still standing. I have visited Lighthouse Golf, which is on page 61. Sadly it was bulldozed on Aug 2017. Cap'N'Cain has landscape rock made some like the other location. They have the same stone steps as Lighthouse Golf. You don't see steps built like this anymore.

I interviewed the son of the owner, and he told me all the history he knew. "The place was made back in the 1970's, or 1980's. Originally Cap'N'Cain had two courses. There use to be another course, where the parking lot is now. At that time, Best of Philly was the pro shop. The statue of Captain Cain is a grandfathered in statue that you can not have in Myrtle Beach. There is very limited properties in America that have a grand fathered in statue on the street. The minigolf statue is a land mark. The course was originally blue and red themed. Very old pics can be found in Library of Congress. Through out the years, the color theme changed to red and yellow. The current family that owns Cap'N'Cain fell in love with the place. They're trying to restore some memories, because it would be good for locals who played here, 20 years ago. 2022 is their first year owning the place. From now to maybe the next two years, they are working on returfing, adding more to the lighthouse, maybe put a light in it; stuff to make the experience going through the course more like an adventure, more nostalgic for the locals."
